L4760 vs L4240

I have been to two dealers that each have the L4760 on their lot. I looked up the specs on the L4760 and the loader is showing to have 100 lbs less lift at the pivot pins and 100 lbs less lift at 500 mm forward and 1000 lbs less break force than the 4240. I thought the new L60 models were supposed to have a stronger loader, not weaker. I better get my hands on the L4240 before they are all gone.

That is what I did. No regrets!!!! Got 47 hours on my 4240. It's a HOSS!

I seriously doubt you will notice a difference between the two.

Maybe they are being more realistic on their specs. My L5740 checks right on relief pressure but will not lift what is claimed in their specs. We get grain in totes, a bag 4x4 x about 4 high. That puts the CG of the bag pretty close to 500 mm in front of the pins which is a load point in the spec and it falls a couple hundred pounds short.

its because the loaders on the GL60's are coming with standard quick couplers, and they where optional on the GL40's. The couplers add weight and move out the pivot points so there is a small spec decrease. Equally equipped, both have the same capacity.

That makes sense on the lift capacity but a 1000 lbs difference in the breakforce?
I really like the location of the new gas cap but I wasn't too fond of the new front loader hydraulic valve connection points located on the outside of the loader arms.

Yup. That's the impact of moving the bucket out an extra 3". Small changes to loader geometry can make huge differences.

IMO... manufacturers should list their loader specs with and without the coupler so people can make educated choices, sadly many don't want you to be educated.. they just want a big number for their brochure.

How much do your grain totes weigh?

Your grain tote will weigh in close to 2500 lb. That is well beyond what the loader is rated at.
