I have an L5740 that the pto switch sticks on every now and then. When you turn it to the off position the pto lights go out but the drive stays engaged with with mid or rear pto. Has anybody had this type of problem and found a solution? I plan on taking apart the panel this weekend and look at the switch.

Thanks for any ideas.

Since the switch is turning off the display, I would suspect the cable needs adjustment going onto the transmission lever. On Kubota partsfinder web, the cable is detailed on page E12600. Kubota | Parts Finder (Canada website)
To clean the switch, use LPS contact cleaner just to remove the dust and grit. http://www.lpslabs.com/product-details/578

What a coincidence, you have the same two tractors as me being the 3830 and 5740... (I'm still waiting for the dealer to tear down the drivetrain on the 5740 to figure out where the gears have ground off).

The newer Kubota's with the yellow rotary switch for the PTO do not have a cable. The switch controls power to a solenoid. Perhaps this solenoid is sticking internally causing the problem. Someone recently had the same problem on this forum or another Kubota related one and I believe they changed out the solenoid to correct the problem.

FYI... Not all Grand 40's are the same design when it comes to PTO engagement. The earlier versions use a lever and cable while the -3 models as in L5740-3 (2010 and newer production) use a yellow rotary switch to energize a solenoid.

Thanks for the responses, mine has the yellow rotary switch. I will see if I can locate the solenoid and what it take to replace it.

Firec,

Do you have a WSM manual? The PTO solenoid valve is referenced in the Transmission section. It looks very easy to access. Hopefully the attachments below will help.

The yellow switch interfaces with the Intellipanel and shuts off the lamp. It then outputs a signal to the PTO Solenoid Valve.

Looks like a hydraulic line needs to be removed along with 3 bolts. There appears to be some O-rings that may give some resistance when removing.

Good luck and let us know what you find.

Sorry for the delay, work got in the way. The problem ended up being a bad switch and not the solenoid. Thanks Moship and Garf658 for the responses.

Glad to hear it was something simple and thanks for reporting your findings.
