I've got a 2019 L6060 with 340hrs on it and I noticed the engine oil level is going down. Since the oil change at 50 hrs the level has gone down from the top mark to about 1/3 of the way down to the lower mark on the dip stick. I don't see any sign of oil below the tractor, where it is parked, so I assume it is using the oil. Is this normal?

I find the oil level can change on my tractor if it's parked on a different spot from when I last checked it, and the ground level has changed slightly even. and it can also very a little depending on if the engine is cold or hot when it is checked. Always compare your oil level checks on a level parking spot with the engine warmed up every time.

Thanks but I park it in the same spot every time and that is where I checked it. Mind you it was cold but I'm pretty sure there is no way that the oil temp would make that much difference on the dip stick. I'm talking about an inch below the top mark. Just in case, I will go check the level again to see if there is a change since it now warmed up after 2 hrs of blowing and plowing snow.

I'll be darned! I just checked it and the oil level is quite a bit higher. It's only down about 3/8" below the top mark. Don't think this is anything to be concerned about.

I found that the tractor parked in it's carport stall is not as level as I thought. Hydraulic oil showed 3/4 of a quart low. Drove it out on the driveway - hydraulic oil showed right at the top mark. Warm tractor- level location.

All sounds good then! Fluid level discrepancies on newer machines especially are always a concern.

Good practice to always pull the dipstick, wipe, reinsert, pull and then read the level. The tube can hold oil at the incorrect level until the the seal is broken between the dipstick and tube.

This may not apply in your case but the oil level will ALWAYS go down after an oil & filter change as the fresh oil fills lines and the new filter. Sometimes, I have to add as much as a quart to get the level back to the full line after running the tractor for a few minutes under load.

Yes, it does make a difference. Sometimes more than you think.
