Anyone figured out how to use the PTO for stationary use with the air ride seats. I've read on this forum that the air ride seat will not permit use of the PTO when the operator is not seated. I contacted my dealer and he thought that wasn't right but after checking, he said it's true but has not got back to me with a work around. I read some people put a heavy object on the seat but I would prefer a better method. On my current tractor the engine would shut down when running on rough roads. That would cause me to bounce up and down, which would open the seat switch contacts. I simply put a jumper on the seat connector and bypassed the circuit. Not sure if that is possible with the L6060 (I don't have it yet so I can't look at the electrical connection setup). I can't bypass the entire connection either, as I still need the air pump to function. I've heard that some tractor computer systems monitor the seat switch to see if it opens and closes and if it goes for too long without activity it will shut the tractor down, thinking there is an electrical problem. Certainly don't want that because a service call to my place would not be cheap.

I asked my dealer about that for the air ride on my L4060HSTC & was told it's not an option if the air ride seat was installed.

So by my calculation that means I have 2 options... Put something heavy in the seat or defeat the seat sensor. I havent finished rebuilding the PTO generator, so it's not currently an issue for me... yet.

I used a zip tie to defeat the seat presence sensor on my old L3200. It will be harder on the L4060 & I'm not sure if I feel like putting in a bypass switch or something. It's more than 2 wires, so more complex to wire up than just an on-off switch. Easily doable if you have the skills & motivation. I have the skills, just not the motivation. To many other projects

I put a stainless hose clamp on my 5240, made using the Farmie winch or sitting at the edge of the seat looking at the forks a lot more pleasant !

Just looked at my L5060. Four wires in the harness leading up to the seat. Then they split into two pair. One pair leading to the sensor in the seat and the other pair of wires to the plunger under the seat pedestal. Each pair has their own disconnect before reaching the switches.

I do not have the optional air-ride seat but was thoroughly amazed how comfortable the standard Grand L5060 seat is. And the spring tension is adjustable to suit the weight of the driver.

I do not have the optional air-ride seat but was thoroughly amazed how comfortable the standard Grand L5060 seat is. And the spring tension is adjustable to suit the weight of the driver.
1 sensor is to detect if somebody is in the seat, the other is to detect if the seat is flipped up or not. You can run the PTO with the seat up, but bumping the go pedal will kill it. If the seat isnt flipped up & the weight sensor isnt tripped it will kill the tractor if PTO or the go pedal is activated. If I recall my L3200 had 1 sensor with 3 wires. I presume the lever on the 1 switch registered seat up, down & weight in the seat depending on position.

At least on my old L3200. A zip tie kept the weight sensor down on my machine so I could stand & look at the forks. Never had a PTO impliment that needed to run with me off the tractor. It's a non-issue for me now as I can't stand up in the cab.

There is no way to flip the seat up if you up if you have the air ride seat. So presumably that seat lifted wiring is either shorted or open, depending on how its setup. I'm sure you could jumper wires appropriately if you looked at the schematics and/or messed with a multimeter on the wiring harness & switches for a few minutes. Safest way would be to put in a switch rather than permanently defeat the safety mechinism.

Thanks! It sounds like it will be easy to jump one of the sensors to allow stationary PTO use. If it is as easy as I think it will be, there is no need to permanently disable the safety switch. Once I know which of the connections to jump I could label it and simply disconnect that plug and jump it for the few times I need to run the PTO in a stationary operation. If I find I need to do that too often then I can add a separate switch to replace the seat up one.

I tried 2 different standard seats at the dealers and one seemed fine for my weight but I couldn't get the other to adjust far enough. However neither one really felt right on my butt. The air ride felt better and after reading some of the comments by others, I figured I would go for it as part of the factory order.

I bought myto avoid an L6060HSTC, so I've never been in/on one, but I assume the seats would be comparable. My suspension seemed OK, but I began putting some long hour on it and it was wearing me out and was causing back pain. Paul Short modified my floor pan and I bought a Grammar air ride and it's been a life saver. I spent over $1200 and well worth it.

(Not knocking the L60 Series, just got a bad left leg and can't use the brakes)

What I've learn about seats. Mainly the Grammer, I studied the web site, down loaded the catalog, but still felt like I was confused. First the air ride bottom section, two different models all the way to 450#. The seats come in 3 widths, and backs in 2 heights, loads of options. The bases can be up/down only, also front/rear option, all have adjustable shock for how bouncy. The seat can a slide and tilt separate from the back. The backs can have lumbar, heat, headrests. Tough Seats inc will build whatever you like.

I got 450# base, wide seat with tilt and slide, low back, no headrest, right arm only adjustable armrest, 4 day delivery. MSG97/741 12 VOLT

I'm pretty sure Granmar is the OEM for the Kubota air ride seats.

yes but they are OEM models. Since I have one of each the after market has better foam, material, options
