Posthole Digger L8000 Heavy Duty Post Hole Digger

I'm looking at this model with 12" auger.

My ground is hard and I thought this model would be better with 12" auger over the L7200-L7300 with 12" auger for digging larger diameter holes.

My thinking being it is better to be in the middle of the L8000s capacity versus at the maximum capacity with the L7200.

Or will smaller unit be good enough and I can save a few hundred dollars.

What kind of tractor are you putting this behind?
When you say L8000 I'am I(we) correct in stating that this is a Leinbach L8000

Massey Ferguson 1540, about 32 pto HP if I recall correctly.

Yes the Leinbach L8000? As compared to other Leinbach model L7200.

Theres about a $360 difference between both models.Your tractor can handle(clearance,etc) the L8000.Heres also soon specs. on your 1540.

However you state your soil is real hard.What are you or how many post etc. do you need to erect?
I'am a FLA. boy so down here we have much sand,and I don't have much experience in /on hard soil.Others here have much(TBN)!
Also is a PHD gonna be a one- shot use attachment for you or gonna need for long term?I'am not trying to spend your money but if it's long term me personally I like the L8000(a buddy of mine owns one).Hope I was able to help ya some.I'am sure others will reply as to hard soil issue.

For hard ground, downpressure may be important. Look for one with a downpressure kit either as a later add-on or as part of the initial package.
