LA Times: Deere Posts 52% Rise in 4th Quarter Earnings

Came across an article in the LA Times about Deere earnings...very rare too see any press on Deere (there's no room left for tractors on these freeways.) Anyway..."Deere reported a 52% increase in fourth quarter earnings Wednesday on surging demand for tractors and combines worldwide, walloping Wall Street's expectations. Earnings shot to 422.1 million..."

We all played a little part in this, so give yourself a pat on the back. Remember that next time you go the dealer shopping for your next toy...

It is probably related a lot to the weakness of the US $.

To have a 52% increase in 4th quater this could also suggest previous quaters where pretty crappy for sales. A company thats been around for over 100 years usually don't have increases like that. Not saying that is the case but I hardly think the dollar has much to do with it.

Company numbers are hard to follow sometimes.

Example if last year John deere sales were really down it would probally not be hard to increase sales.

While the data looks good you really have to look at many quaters to really follow the story.

Either way it seems John Deere is doing really good.

I must agree with canoetrpr, last i saw the Euro was $1.48 US dollars.
I'm also seeing our companies quoting to European companies up dramatically.

That article only stated that they had a 52% rise in earnings or profits for the forth quarter not sales or market share. There is a big difference! Who wouldn't want to improve in both!
