Kubota L3130
Hi Everyone. Over the last year I've started hauling a lot of wood and light materials with my L3130, both for myself and for the in-laws. (It really is true when they say that you don't just marry your wife, but her whole family as well :) )

What I am finding is that I have to make quite a few trips with the standard 66" bucket for the LA513, and these light materials (split firewood, mulch, small debris) don't even come close to maxing out the loader capacity. So naturally I thought "maybe I should look into getting a light materials bucket". But to my dismay, when I looked on Kubota's website for information about the materials bucket for the LA513, it says that there isn't one! Apparently the materials bucket for the Grand L series is only spec'd for the LA723 and LA853 loaders.

Does anyone know why Kubota doesn't spec the materials bucket with the LA513? Is it a capacity thing? I'm assuming that since I have the QA feature, it should physically mount to my loader. Also, if I can't get one from Kubota, does anyone have a recommendation for another source?

Thanks in advance!

Ok you want to get a lighter duty bucket??? Even if your hauling nothing that is going to be close to the limits of what you got now I cant really see how getting a lighter duty bucket would benifiet you. Its still going to carry the same amount of material and not really going to save you any wear and tear. Just going to cost you more to move the same stuff.

If you look at the dimensions of the light materials bucket on Kubota's website, the capacity is a good deal more than the standard bucket that comes with the LA513. I don't want to get a lighter duty bucket that is the same size as my current bucket, I want to get a lighter duty bucket that is LARGER than my current bucket and is made for carrying larger amounts of light-weight materials. This way I can make fewer overall trips. Hope that helps.

Ok I got cha, I bought some pallet forks and used them on my L3400 (traded it in for L400:D ) and I could haul alot more stuff , I could carry 5 RR ties with it no problem now it was a bit bouncy needed more counter weight besides the Rhino mower on the back. you might be able to gets some Clamps and some other steel to increase the sides make it deeper??

Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it. I have looked into getting a 3pt. carry all, and might do that either way. I've definitely got a set of QA forks on my list as well, but originally I thought a bucket would be more suited to my needs than forks.

Either way, I'm still curious as to why Kubota doesn't have a light materials bucket for the LA513 loader. It seems like a pretty common need for landscaping and general property maintenance.

Purchase the QA forks and a carry all frame. Have eyelets welded to the bottom of the carry all frame and then use the QA forks to transport the carry all. I have a neighbor who uses this to transport wood. Very neat. He also has a frame kit (Sides and end)he uses on the carry all and uses it for other purposes as well. He says he can install the forks, pick up the carry all and be moving before he could hook up one side of a 3pt.

To buy the Q-Tach for the loader would allow you to switch buckets easily and use any size bucket or pallet forks you would like.

/ LA513 Question #10
According to the Kubota L price list the L2236 72" light material bucket is available for the LA514 (L 40 series), can't possibly imagine why not for the LA513 on the L 30. I would say just get one, can't cost that much anyway. :D

/ LA513 Question #11
I had the exact problem when I bought my L3130 with the 513 loader and 66" bucket. To solve the problem I bought the QA attachment and the Light Duty 72" QA bucket which has 1/2 again the capacity of the 66" bucket. I am very pleased with my decision as this bucket while labeled light duty, is actually capable of more than light projects. I paid the dealer the difference in price of the 72" vs. the 66" and the QA attachment cost about $300. I think it was $400 total for the whole setup. Now I have the QA which is universal allowing me to expand what I can put on the FEL and I have the extra capacity of the big bucket. I'm pleased but if i could do it all over again I woud've paid the extra $$$$ and went with the 723 loader. I could use the extra lifting power.

Thought I would add a picture of my bucket so you can see its size and so I can showoff a bit. I took this picture yesterday when my son and I were cutting a maple tree that was rotting at the base.

Thanks Tractor Dr. I really appreciate the pic, it's nice to see the setup. That's exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to talk to my dealer about getting one. I still want to keep my 66" bucket, as I have a toolbar on it and I do a lot of digging (and the capacity of the bucket with heavy things can max out the loader well enough). Since I bought the loader with QA, I should only need the bucket.

All in all, I agree with you about going with the 723. I have to admit, I have been most impressed with the 513. It's meet (or exceeded) most everything I've asked it to do. But there have been enough times when I've had to be "creative" with the 513 to do what the 723 would have handled in one shot. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.
