Can somewhere here expain the float position on the loader...is there a
method to use the float position?
The manual certainly doesn't explain this with much detail....especailly for a newbie:eek:

I've gotten the loader into the float position, but the tractor still seems to want to ride up, and lift the front tires, so maybe there is some control finess that needs to be mastered:D

Angle the bucket up a little and that should stop the front wheels from lifting so much.

You just need to have fun practicing and getting use to the tractor.:)

I have a Grand L3940 with the 724 FEL.
I found I just needed to push the control arm (Hydro control lever) all the way forward until it "clicked" past the normal full down position, and then hold it there. The front would rise up then settle back down and "float".
Hope this helps.:D

The float position can cause the frony wheels to rise if the bucket is digging in. There is no pressure there to keep it from not digging deeper. Float seems to work great when scaping off two different materials. Like dirt off of gravel. Once you get the bucket set flat put it in float and start pushing. If the bucket rises up back up some while in float the diengage the float and proceed forward. Practice with it. Comes in handy sometimes in different situations. It works great back dragging with a bucket fill of material whiule leveling stone, dirt or whatever. Practice makes maybe not perfect.. But better....:)

When the front is coming up, you are cutting to much! Level the bucket to control the amount you are adding to your load.or release some rear weight.

If you roll the bucket all the way back and float while driving forward, it's useful for grading gravel and dirt. It works a little better than dragging the bucket backward in float position, unless you've got weight in it. It's also easier on your neck because you don't have to keep looking behind you, also easier on fences because you don't drive over them while you're going backwards.

Simple remedy is to put it in float position while the bucket is raised up high. It lands as lightly as a feather.

I'm reluctant to use float position going forward. The way things bunch up, it puts an awful lot of strain on the loader arms, pins, and cylinders.

I use float position mainly to back drag. That way, it fills in the lows and floats over the humps. If the bucket isn't heavy enough, I keep dirt in it when back dragging.
