Laboring on Labor Day weekend

Yeah, yeah.... I know it's SUPPOSED to be a day of rest. The end of summer. Relax and enjoy a day/weekend off. In fact, I'm on vacation for 9 days, so I'm gonna be doing nothing for more than a week!

Sure. That happens all the time in my world. (How do you spell sarcasm?)

Sprayer is hooked up to the tractor. Tomorrow morning, I start spraying pastures. (2,4-D) By lunchtime, I've got 50 tons of crushed limestone being dropped on the driveway. Probably be grading that 'till late afternoon.

Sunday (after church) is planned to be moving round bales, fixing a couple spots on the fence, and finishing the driveway if I don't get it done tomorrow.

Monday thru thursday will be seeding hayfields and pastures.

So, what'll YOU be doing this weekend?

Oh yeah, I have a couple packs of brats, 2 GIANT packages of ribs, a fresh tank of gas for the grill, and a few chilly barley pops all ready for monday afternoon!

It was supposed to be a relaxing weekend, we postponed the out of town guests. Now, the wife has to go to Cleveland tomorrow, her mom is in the hospital, not life threatening. The recent rain storms that dumped about 4-5 inches of rain made the grass/weeds wake up and begs for a cutting. The 2-3 weeks of 90º weather with sun has turned the pool green. We are about to close it up for the year, but it needs attention before I do.

Farm; Well, I'm going to do a little welding. MadRef was nice enough to send me "FREE" plans for his version of a trailermover/hitch for the FEL, and I finally got my parts together for that. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Was going to take my boat out on Lake Erie, but with a 50 gallon tank almost empty, and $3.40+ for gas, I think we'll do the kayaks instead. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Let's see, Labor Day, I think that means a day to work.

Today, work in the yard, cut the grass, finish up puttying a window on the old farm, maybe put some siding up on the east wall.

Sunday, more siding to go and start on the trim.

Monday, maybe relax a little, but I really need to finish that east wall and start on the south wall. Another holiday come and gone.
