lack of power on FEL

Hey guys! My FEL is lacking in power and i dont know why! I dont see any hydraulic leak, when the FEL is up in the air with a load it stays there. what could it be?

Internal cylinder leak, control valve internal leak, weak pump, relief valve opening too soon, relief valve having a hunk of snit holding it partially open. Those are the common issues. Typically, it's a cylinder packing leak or relief valve on a newer tractor. Weak pump on an older one.

Best way to check is with a gage.

If you have da cyls.. remove the drop hose and pressureize the lift hose.. if oil comes out the fitting on the cyl.. they are bypassing.

past that.. I'd stick a valve in the system and see what it is making / relieving at..

Your info kind of runs together, but I think I understand what you are saying:

1. Your FEL seems to lack power.
2. It has no external leaks.
3. It holds a load when raised, no drooping or dropping.

From this, I suspect that there is nothing wrong with the cylinders or valves. I think it may be technique or perhaps the hydraulic system does not have enough pressure. I would check the hydraulic pressure at the quick connects going to the FEL using a gage plumbed to a male quick connect. Do you know what the pressure is supposed to be?

If you could give us a little more info on the tractor and how long you have had it, we might be able to help more. Otherwise, it's impossible to be very specific. We have no idea what your tractor is rated at or what type work you are doing with it. Please give a little more info.
