I am currently running a Lamtrac 6125 with a Tushogg BDHS6000 head, but I have been looking at switching to a Denis Cimaf head. These machines are 125 horsepower, and run a 4 cylinder Cummins that is easily capable of 150-175 horsepower. My question is, if I did this what should I expect to have to upgrade? Would the hydraulics, undercarriage, etc, handle the increase in power?

Thanks in advance,
Kane

I would bet that if you turn it up that much you'll have trouble keeping it cool. The cooling system was designed for 125 HP not 150 and certainly not 175. The hydraulics and undercarriage will not be a problem.

I'd also bet that if you got from a Tushogg to a Cimaf you won't need to turn it up. The Cimaf will be so much more efficient you will think you went from 125 to 175hp.

You aren't the first person to tell me that, unfortunately the Cimaf head is $$$, so it may be a little while before I feel comfortable dropping that kind of cash on another head. The only thing that concerns me about the DC is tooth wear, I don't mind sharpening them, jusy dont want to drop 12-1500 every 100-150 hrs.
