I went down to SC and ran one for a few hours (6000 series). It is a well thought out machine, and built like a tank. 125hp, wide steel tracks, and very narrow. You could put it on a 10 ton gooseneck with no problem at all. I really like the machine until they hit me with the price. $170,000.

If it were $130 or maybe $140,000 I would have owned it, but not at $175,000. I could put on two supertrac TL150's for just a little more, and have better production.

Not sure how they are as a mulcher, but the 4000 is pretty popular here as snowmobile trail groomer. Seem to be pretty reliable and can fit well in our narrow trails. There made in New Brunswick a few hours from where I live.

my company owns a few Lamtrac machines, and yeah, while they are sometimes more expensive, are simply the BEST out there. Think Cadillac, or in our world, Peterbuilt. They simply require the least amount of maintenance, more power, and operator comfort is not comparable to anything else

To your point Landwise about the price, I hear that your price range is now reachable on the 6125 Lamtrac. Might want to call your dealer, we just bought another for $147K!

I ran one for about an hour at Lynn Hendrix's dealership in Texas. It is a very nice LITTLE mulcher. Lynn had it rigged out with a Fecon with the HDT teeth and two speed motor and it cut very good. It is narrow but the tracks are very wide making it very stable. There is hardly a gap between the tracks, according to Lamtracs website it is rated to 100% slope! That is 45 degrees, steeper than I care to walk on. I considered one of these machines but I have to go bigger, if I need a small machine this is at the top of the list.

They are not $170k at tidewater

TMTS you might want to check out CMI they have a new machine being built right now, A C175. Same frame as the C125 but a little longer and 175hp. They will be more expensive than the Lamtrac but once you see one you will know why. Another option is the FTX148 another good "Little" mulcher.

Westshore is right the FTX148-L is my choice. As soon as the bank quits monkeying around I will have one.

So this week it's back to Fecon. What about the Prentice?

Both! I am waiting on the bank before I make my official announcement but I am getting both the 148 and the Prentice not to mention that the 140 is running like a scalded dog right now and I am planning on keeping it. I have about 2000 acres under contract.
