I need some guidance from y'all on how to clean up and level about 3 acres of my property. here are some similar photos of what it looks like:

It was covered in overgrowth at on point but I cleared most of the small saplings and brush with a chainsaw. What I have now is land that is unlevel and 3-4inch tall tree stumps everywhere. These stumps are mainly about the size of a silver dollar, not very big at all. It is just difficult for the wife and kids to walk and run around on without tripping over a hole or a tree stump. I am wanting to clear it out to look similar to this:

So what do I do?

I am currently doing the same thing on my 10.5 acre place. It is a whole lot easier if you had pushed those trees out or bush hogged them. At this point, I would probably use a boxblade and set the rippers to skim under the surface and break up the roots and pull those little stumps out. Once the ground is loosened up, use the box blade to level the soil. Plant grass and you are done! Look for box blade articles, particularly by a guy named 3rrl.

Good luck!

A dozer with a root rake would make short work of that project. An experienced dozer operator on a small machine without a root rake could do it.

Have you looked into renting a machine? 3 acres would take me a while unless I hit it full time (I am a soldier on active duty, not a machinery operator, so I htave to tackle projects in my spare time.)

I was thinking about renting a dozer or other piece of equipment but wasnt sure on how to attack the project.

Maybe I can find a dozer operator that has a root rake and see what he would charge.

Dozer w/ brush rake best. Something In the cat D-3, or JD 550 range. Work the ground one way with the rake Then "across" like if you went north, south the frist time, do again but go east, west. Box blade on a tractor with same method, Bewere of flat tires.
