So i have been wanting a land plane for a while now for finish work. I have a Cat D4E for clearing land but to be honest i am no pro at the finish work and grading. So I built a land plane to help me with the finish work. The skids are made of some C-channel I had left over from a project. The tubing is all 2" tubing i get for free. The angle iron is 6"x4"x 5/16' that was left over from a project as well. The blades are 7' long and 1/2" thick. The skids are 5'6" of useable space. Over all I like it, if i were to go back and change some things I would not have made my cutting blades so vertical and I would have made the skids longer. This is a good size to be used with my Mahindra 2555, and i believe it weighs around 900 pounds.
The backyard is not 100% complete but its getting there. This area used to be full of mesquite trees and had quite a elevation difference. The area is now much more smooth with a gradual slope to lessen the erosion issues. The purple post are markers for my septic system sprinkler heads. I threw out some annual ryegrass and bermuda seed this evening because we are expecting rain over the next few days. I plane to come back early spring and further focus on leveling but for now I have a new fence line that wont build its self and clearing another 6 acres of mesquite to convert to pasture.
