ok.. I just got a Land Pride SGC1060 grapple and the 380-153M 3rd function valve for my L3800HST. Just got it all hooked up. The grapple moves slower than molasses. But if you hit the lever for the rear remotes while running the grapple, it picks up some speed. Whe I picked up the tractor after the dealer installed the 3rd function valve, the service tech said the flow rate increased a quite a bit by hitting that lever while running the 3rd function valve. Shouldnt it be the same flow rate ? Why would it change from moving the remotes lever? On the side of the 3rd function valve body, there is a couple allen head bolts or plugs. They appear to line up with the hydraulic lines coming out the top and down to the grapple. Could these be adjustments for the flow? I realize the tractor dont have a high flow rate to start with, but something jsut dont seem right.

You said grapple moves slow are you talking about the speed of the clamps opening and closing or the loader operation. some grapples have an orifice fitting usually on cyl to operate clamps. but this speed shouldn't change with operating another control I would suspect it's not plumed correctly.

Im talking about the grapple jaw moving slow. The dealer hooked up the 3rd function and I had somebody else do the hoses to the grapple, both just short runs. When I picked up my tractor, the service tech said the flow rate increased alot when moving the lever for the rear remotes. That just dont sound right. I would not doubt they plumbed it wrong. I have little confidence in that service department. I will find out, and if they did it wrong, they will get it back and can get it right. I got my post hole digger through them and they had it wrong when putting the down pressure kit on it. They never T'd it off the block where the pressure relief valve is for a return line. This is a place that does this kind of work and even the book showed what had to be done in clear diagrams/pictures. I took it back on a saturday morning after I got it. Their mistake, should of been a priority, taking maybe 1-2 hours to put a T on it and plumb it to the tractor. I got it back 2 weeks later. And that only happened after email the service manager and store manager voicing my frustrations with the delay. Then amazingly they told me to bring the tractor up and they would do it. Took over 3 hours. If I hadnt said something, they wouldnt of touched it for who knows how long.

If the 3rd function valve was inserted after the loader valve, in the series flow path, the same volume of fluid flows through all valves.

I don't see where the 3pt valve would have anything to do with the flow except to add back pressure.

If the 3rd function valve was selected to on, the flow going back to the 3pt is grapple cyl expended fluid.

It is the lever for the rear remotes, not the 3 point control. I have no idea why it does this. It is odd because the service tech told me about it, with the salesman standing right there, so he knew about it. You would think a serviice tech who knew what he was doing and had experience with hydraulics would know something is not right. It took them 7 hours yesterday to get the 3rd function installed, a job that Land Pride's service guy said shouldnt take longer than maybe 2 1/2hrs for a first time install, and this was their first time installing a 3rd function valve. Sales guy has been great, but that service department sucks. If it cant be fixed here and I have to take it eack because they got it wrong, Im gonna be pissed.

I have the same Land Pride grapple on my L5460HSTC and it works fast; however, my 3rd function loader valve is Kubota sourced. I have a problem with the electric solenoid operated valve sticking on high pressure occasionally when I fully open or fully close the "clam". If I lightly "bump" the toggle switch for the opposite direction it drops off high pressure. My dealer will pick up my tractor and replace the valve when I have enough time to let it go in for the repair and do the required 50 hour service.
