Land Pride FM2072 parts querry

I was able to recently purchase a used FM2072 Land Pride flail mower. It is missing the rod and flaps on the front side of the mower. It is my understanding that these flaps prevent objects from being blown back forward as the drum and blades turn toward the front of the unit and towards the rear of the tractor. I priced these flaps and they are about $25 each and I need a minimum of 10. I have seen hanging chain strips on the rear of rotary cutters which I suppose do the same thing. Does anyone see any problem with setting up the same type of system on this flail mower? It should be a lot less money for me. Thanks in advance for any suggestions anyone has.

AS long as the chains can't touch the blades when pushed under, they should work. Another common shield is heavy rubber mat or belting material.

Thanks for the belt idea, I see old firehose for sale occasionally on CL

Check with your local welding shops. Multiple 3/16" rectangles of flat steel with a piece of pipe welded to the top should be easy and much cheaper than ordering parts. I was missing one shield on my NH 918 and cobbled it up in no time.
