Price Check Land Pride Rotary Cutter... Good price?

I'm badly wanting a rotary cutter for my BX23 to tame the back acreage. I was leaning toward the Woods standard duty 48" cutter, but it seems like no one locally stocks it.

Here is my dilema, I can get a Land Pride RCE1548 with slip clutch, delivered for $1407.25. Is this a good price or can I do better? Also, are Land Pride cutters good values, how do they compare to the Woods rotary cutter?

Seems pretty steep to me. $1400 for a 4ft rotary mower???? We sell King Kutter ($550 for 48" w/o slip) and Bush Hog brand (around $800 w/o slip). I think I have sold a total of two 4' rotary cutters with slip clutches on them, just not a common item. Anyway, Land Pride makes great units, but thats an awful lot of money for a small mower.

In my humble opinion Woods and Bush Hog make the two best on the market...I just try to always tell people to be honest with themselves as far as their needs go. Are you actually going to be doing "brush cutting" or are you going to be cutting a "field". If you are just going to be cutting a "field" there is no sense in paying that much for a 4" cutter. I sell BH286 w/slip for close to that price (much heavier cutter and two more feet!).

I paid just over a thousand bucks for a 60" Land Pride cutter in York, PA. To me, the $1400 is too high.

The Land Prides are very robust. I think you'll like one, if you can find a better price.
Since you mentioned delivered, I assume you don't have a truck? I brought mine home on a Ranger. The tail wheel hung over and the cutter sat from the bed to the opposite side of the truck. The weight was just about the maximum my little Deere 670 could handle (600#), but that's how I got it off the truck.

Good cutter! Just too high a price...

My JD LX4 (4') cutter was about $1,000. The slip clutch would have been about $100 to $150 more. I looked at Woods and KK at TSC. The LX4 was the lightest weight of the 3, but not by too much. You need to consider weight on a small tractor. Mine goes on my JD 4010, a 1420 # tractor, about the same as a BX. The KK cutter was around $750. I didn't price a Woods one after finding out it was the heaviest of the 3 (about 460# vs. just over 400# for the LX4).

You should be able to find a "good enough" 4' rotary cutter for $500-$600, unless you plan on doing full time commercial heavy brush cutting.

$1,400 sounds really high. I was quoted $695 for a 4' Modern brand (made by Modern Manuf. in Beaumont, TX) and I can get it hot dip galvanized finish for $55 extra. Didn't get a quote on slip clutch.

I am East Texas but I can't imagine the price being that much higher in other parts of the country.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate your opinions. You've given me a better idea of what to expect in price. Also, I will shop around a bit more.

This evening my wife and I went out to dinner and while there we saw friends who mentioned they saw me playing, I mean working with my Kubota. Got to talking about how I want a rotary cutter. It turns out the husband has one for sale. I'll be looking at it in the morning, I expect that it might be too big, but who knows, I might luck out.
