Kubota BX2350
Hello All, I promise I have scoured this and many other sites looking for the "best" answer and I am down to two options. I have a local dealer that has a L.P. 42" RTA10 front tilling for what looks to be an attractive price, approx 1,200. I really like the KKII 48" for 1,550 at TSC (just down the street). My only concern w/ the KKII is they suggest 20 horse power and my Kubota only has 17.8 pto. The K.K. (or Country Time) is my first choice because it is 48" and will cover tracks where the LP is only 42" and will need to be offset. Plus the L.P. has less flanges (1) and blades (4 versus 6). What do you guys think? I am a big time newbie so any help is GREATLY appreciated.

get the KK. Wider means better tire coverage. If you meant tines instead of flanges, then it only means finer till which is nice. The BX has plenty of power when tilling in dirt and I wouldnt worry about the few extra PTO hp "recommended" Other BX owners have 48 inch and it works fine for thier need. Just make sure you got a slip clutch on it.

Look closer at that yellow tiller at TSC. Look for the serial number tag and it will tell you the manufacturer. There are no KK tillers at any TSC around me anymore. They are mostly Tarter brand with the TSC private label CL name. I like the KK brand so I ordered mine from a dealer rather than buying a look-a-like from TSC.

Thank you guys for your input. It is my understanding the KK actually make the TSC "private label" to the same specs as their product. From what I gather it is the same product, just different name and paint. It does seem you bith like the wider version though?

TSC uses several manufacturers for their private label products now. You have to look at the tag to see who built it. There are no KK built products at any TSC in my area now. Most are Tarter or Hawkline. They do not use interchangeable parts, as each is their own design and varies slightly. If you want one of those other brands, that is fine too, I'm just giving you a heads up in case you thought you were buying a KK since it was yellow and at TSC. Not the case anymore.
I'm not the best one to give advice on the tiller width since I just ordered mine ;) but after researching I did decided on a width that will cover my tracks. I've never seen someone say they wished they bought a narrower tiller, but there are plenty of people who say if they had the choice again they would buy one wide enough to cover their tracks.
One way to tell around here regarding brand... if the tiller is shipped with a pallet/crate made from metal square tubing, it is Tarter. All the KK tillers I've seen are shipped with a wood pallet/crate.

For what it's worth, I use a Land Pride RTR0550 with my BX2660, so your 2350 should have no trouble with the 48" KK.

I don't like TSC but I like my KK 72" tiller. I bought it new at an auction. It's a tough machine. Has lots of tines... plus they are set in a sprial or corkscrew fashion to reduce vibration. And gear drive to boot!

I would make sure you are buying a KK tiller and not some TSC knock off. Did I mention I don't like TSC?!)

I would certainly get the tiller that covers your tracks. Offsetting is a pain. If your tractor bogs then just don't till as deep and make a second pass. I think you will be fine.

Have fun!

So I thought I would add this to anyone "down the road" that sees this post and is curious. I went to TSC and asked point blank about the KK relationship with their product the Country Time. He said it is absolutely 100% a KK and the only difference is the paint color. He must have had that question a lot and and was certain this was the case (at least in his store in Eastern NC). I plunked down the credit card to purchase the KK 48" and he(probably a manager) started asking questions. He said he didnt really feel comfortable with the KK (or rebranded Country Time) that I was purchasing. He called technical support and they confirmed his intuition. For the Kubota BX series, buy the smaller 48 version designed for the subcompact tractor (the XB series I believe it is). Confused, I thanked him and left in frustration. I went to the KK web site and there was this nice phone number....so I called. They could not have been friendlier and nicer. I spoke with one of the technical guys and he said that the TSC guy was right. I needed the subcompact model. Not necessarily due to the weight or size but because the SCUT tiller was designed for the shorter arms and that one would do everything the larger one would do...he had one and thats what he used. Long reply but hope it helps to anyone else in my same situation. Thanks guys for your help!!
