If I hook up an RTR2570 to an M7040 - what will happen?

The RTR2570 is recommended for smaller tractors - but what would happen if a larger tractor was used to run it?

Thank you

Here is what the Land Pride website says:

The RTR25 Series Reverse-Till Rotary Tillers are designed and built by Land Pride to till the soil for seedbed or planting preparation. The RTR25 series are adapted for 540rpm PTO and three-point hitch Category 1 mounting. The RTR25 series tillers are Quick-Hitch adaptable and are compatible with 25-55hp tractors. Reverse rotation tillers tend to achieve greater depth penetration, moving and pulverizing more soil in the process, while burying residue as opposed to leaving it on top. RTR25 Series Land Pride Tillers have applications in landscaping, nurseries, gardens, and medium duty commercial use.

A: Unless you have a crepper gear your ground speed will be too fast for a tiller.
B: Looks like you will have a higher hp tractor than the tiller is built for.
Hope i helped

Depending on the ground you are going to use it in, I wouldn't think you would have any problems. Most tillers have a slip clutch that should slip to protect the equipment. Unless the clutch is out of adjustment and you hit something solid you should be fine. I would run it in lowest gear and take your time.

I agree with DDT, I can only go by our 12F/12R M8540, but the ground speed without creep would be too fast in our lowest gear.

No, you "probably" won't tear it up right off absent rocks and stumps, roots, but it is probably going to wear your slip clutch out.

My advice would be to get something designed to fit the parameters of your tractor.

Of course I could be wrong as I have never actually tried it.
