I have an LX3310 / LA535 on order. I am thinking seriously about getting the Land Pride STB1072 Snow Blade, for both snow removal and light grading (in locked blade configuration, for moving/spreading loose dirt, mulch, gravel, etc., per the Land Pride manual). I plan to get it equipped with a hydraulic angle adjustment option. However the manual shows single cylinder and dual cylinder options. The manual says "Each option will angle up to 30 degrees to the left and to the right..."

Is there any difference in operation between the single and dual cylinder options? Is there any significant advantage to the dual cylinder option? Are there things you can do with the dual cylinders that you cannot do with the single cylinder version? Obviously the cost will be significantly higher for the dual cylinder option; but I can't find any discussion in the Land Pride literature on criteria for choosing the single vs. dual cylinder option.

Guessing here but I think the double cylinder would let you stop before fully angling. My snow plow/third function lets me stop before it angles all the way in either direction.
Full angle(30 degrees) is limited to the design of the plow.If you go with the double I would suggest a cross over relief valve also.Cheap and easy;check Surplus Center.

Thank you, birdman. If you don't mind, though, please briefly explain what a cross over relief valve is and how it connects to the dual cylinder hoses.

I have that blade with only the single cylinder, works great, when angled fully one way or the other, it kinda twists up on the other side, like it wont fully contact your surface, straight on or slightly angled, it has full contact. I only have used it for snow on pavement.

So do you tend to use it at less than a full angle because of that? Also, do you have the steel or poly wear edge? I'm leaning toward steel since I expect to also use it to do light grading where I think a steel edge would be more appropriate. But I'm also concerned about potential damage to my asphalt driveway with the steel edge. OTOH it comes standard with skid shoes, which should help prevent driveway damage.

Yes, it's rare when I full angle it. I do have the poly bolt on edge. I do quite a lot where I use the full weight on the blade while scraping ice. That poly edge is pretty durable, but wouldn't use it for gravel, but dirt or mulch would probably be okay.

Light duty as in "light grading" is fraught with peril. While you may have the best intentions of moving mulch or small amounts of loose dirt, it is very easy to slip into a "bulldozer mentality" and try to move a little more and a little more until it is abusive. Land pride includes a note with the instructions for locking and unlocking the blade (disabling or enabling the trip function).
IMPORTANT: Attempting to work undisturbed soil, heavy materials or similar items can damage the Snow Trip Blade and will void all warranties.
Anything that damages the attachment may be considered a "heavy material or similar item".

If this thread continues, I expect the rear blade proponents will chime in to sing the praises of the rear blade for both snow removal and grading.

Get the "basic" manual plow or a very basic hydraulic angle plow, AND a 6'7' back blade for counter weight and cleanup.

Your FEL and standard bucket will do most everything else - grading and leveling dirt, Mulch etc. Also since you have a unit on order you probably wont have any pricing leverage at this point.

I would get a back blade for now, then decide after the first winter if you need a front plow.

Thanks for the advice, Carl. I have a 60" Woods box grader that should work fine for counterweight. I have used that in the past for snow removal. It was far from the ideal snow removal implement for my taste, but should help with cleanup, and perhaps for clearing the parking area near the garage. I'm not inclined to get a back blade right now, though I may reconsider if I can pick a used one up at a good price. I'm getting up in years, and want to make things as easy as possible. Think the plow will help in that respect.

The cross over relief is very simple;two ports in and two ports out.The two from the tractor to one side and out to the cylinders.Protects by passing the fluid to the other side if you hit something solid(and you will).
