I knew I needed to sharpen my blades, but thought perhaps they would be okay for the first mowing of the pasture. Well, I got mostly done and now they needed sharpening for sure, leaving a streak behind one of the three blades. Figured, no problem, pull into shop, hit it with cordless impact gun, no luck, tried breaker bar with cheater, still no luck, went and got air impact out, still no. I even tried turning the other way in case they are left handed. Nothing I find says left handed (owners manual, parts manual) so I didn't try too hard. I sprayed some PB Blaster on (don't have acetone/ATF handy). Went back to mowing (running slower). Needed to finish so I could spray weeds along edges of pasture.

Does anyone know for sure they are right hand or left hand threads?

I have had these off before (couple of years ago) and put new blades on (so I have two sets to sharpen now) but I don't recall if they are leftys. My next step is to put box end wrench on and wack with 5lb hammer. I generally don't over tighten things (but did not use a torque wrench when putting them on last). I will have limited computer access over the next couple of weeks, but if anyone knows for sure (i.e. has a FDR1672 and recently replaced blades) they are right handed or left handed bolts, please let me know. Thanks in advance for any help.

Perhaps Jim could come on up and help me, it is only 84 here today. Should feel like cool spring day for him.

Here is the blade bolt part listing in their parts diagram:

17. 802-384C HFS 1/2-20X1 1/4 GR5

Looks like a regular right hand hex 1/2 x 20 bolt, 1.25 long, grade 5. No mention of Left Handed which I'd imagine it would say otherwise. Block the end of the blade with wood against the housing, use a pipe on a breaker bar, go easy counterclockwise it should move, if not you could try clockwise. Once apart use antisieze to avoid future problems.

Thanks, that is the plan. I blocked with wood, put cheater on breaker bar, pulled as much as I dared (I did not have time for any breakage at that moment, so stopped). I will spray with PB Blaster and go the route of cheater again.

FYI, my FDR1672 takes on page 96 of parts manual item 13. 802-695C HFS 1/2-20X2 GR8

Dont think Landpride uses reverse threaded nuts/bolts.
My similar model does not for certain.
My experience is that you need sharp impact type force not slow twisting to get them free.
Strong impact gun or a stubby high quality breaker bar hit with a sledge hammer.
Husky CS 7 CS7 1 2 in Sliding Head Breaker Bar 1" Long | eBay

I have found this older style sliding breaker bar to be much stiffer than the new stuff.
I have a 3' breaker bar that is junk compared to my sliding husky. The long bar just flexes and uses up the energy.
Have you ever had rusted lug nuts to get off.
A hard boot down on the lug wrench will accomplish a lot more than yanking on it for all your worth.
Last resort is to heat it with oxy/acetylene torch.

Grass juice makes great thread locker.

On my FDR1660 had to use my big socket set with breaker handle and block blade with wood to break loose, had to replace a bad bearing. Found out they just put a little grease in, need to fill up the spindle with the grease gun to keep the water out. Put lots of antiseaze on bolt when replacing it.
