I need to sharpen and/or flip my three blades on my mower. Are those nuts regular (righty tighty) or reverse? I am having problems breaking anything loose. Also, how do you block the blade? Will PTO in gear work, or hurt?

I had the same problem getting the blades off my FDR2572. I don't remember now how I determined that they are normal threads but they are. I soaked the nuts with penetrating oil then I put a piece of 2 X 4 block between the end of the blade I was going to loosen the housing of the mower deck. I then took a socket on a 2 foot breaker bar and a piece of pipe and they came off. I didn't try leaving the PTO in gear because I knew I was going to be applying a lot of torque to the unit and I didn't want to put the stress all the way through to the tractor. If you haven't seen it, Landpride has a real good website that has a good parts breakdown for those of us who have bought our mowers used. Hope this helps.
ps. If you can't figure out how to stick a block in there let me know and I will try and get a picture to post.

Well, I thought and thought and came up with a way to break them. Here is my setup. I cut a slit in the 4x4 for the blade and let it catch against the mower frame. Then I put a pipe on the 3/4in wrench, and pryed them loose.

Glad to see you got it.

I have been using a electric impact gun on my 72 inch landpride for twenty years. Works like a charm. Clean bolts and put some never seize on the threads.

I used to use the "wood block" method...but for the last 10 years or so I have used an air impact wrench...I agree with samandmax.....really does work like a charm!

So, the air impact wrench works without using something to block the turn of the blade??

Yep.....was pleasantly surprised to find that out....Learned this when trying the impact wrench to remove the blades on my Toro Proline 52 inch Walk behind mower..

On Land Pride gromming mowers, check your owners manual, blade bolts are torqued 50 to 70 ft lbs, all are RH theads (except for AFM bat wings). as the mower runs it will tighten the blade bolts. A common mistake is over tightening then the time comes to remove blades, unless you have a good impact.....your going to be a while.
