My lawn is compacted from years of running over it. I’m very interested in purchasing a Landpride Plugger, I live in a rocky area, clay soil and some surface tree roots. Does anyone use a 3 pt hitch plugger? I’m thinking a 48” to pull with my B3030, local dealer/salesman said they don’t work, I should purchase a hydraulic plugger starting at $11,000.

for the one or two times a year you would use it, can you rent either type somewhere?

If you are talking about the 1500 series, your dealer may have a point. But jump up to the 2500 series which weighs 460 lbs without ballast, I think your dealer will talk a different tune.

I did inquire about the 2500 series with water tanks.

I sense some confusion. The CA2560 is 60 or 72 inches. Only the 1500 is available in 48" width. The 60" weighs nearly 1000 lbs with ballast. I think it will work but maybe not when the ground is dry and hard like now.

Here is what I purchased, at least for me since it is full of sand, I had no need to add weight. Only thing to keep in mind, you do need to raise it when making turns. I am very happy with it. You are going to have to determine if it will work in your soil.

I just went to the local shipping terminal parked in front as they instructed me and they loaded it onto the back of truck. My neighbor has a hoist, so he lifted up and I pulled my truck out and went home to get the tractor. I purchased from Harbor Freight a car dolly set to put it on and being careful I just push it off to the side of my cement storage building.

Save your money and buy some Fertilizer and or top dress. Winter Frost will loosen soil better than them dang stupid core aerators ...short of spending big bucks on the commercial ones for say golf courses IMO and still not convinced it is worth the bother in Frost zones.

Each to their own....
