I have a quickhitch that works with all of my implements except for my Landpride 10-42 tiller. I needed to extend the lift pin holes out so the quick hitch would work. Unfortionately this moved the tiller out and now my drive shaft is too short. As they say you need to close one door to open another. I may have to order a new shaft from landpride. Has anyone had to modify thier drive shafts??? Should I go to Tractor supply store and try to get one to fit???

PTO shafts from TSC or Agri-Supply are usually much cheaper

The yolk and shaft material usually are available seperately. The shaft material is sold in several lengths. You might be able to grind out the welds for the old shaft/yolk, insert a new longer shaft piece, and weld it. This would save the cost of a new yolk. You might be talking about a $20 piece of shaft material.

The shaft is attached by a roll pin through the yoke. I took the pin out but I cannot remove the shaft. I am betting that it is pressed in somehow. Any suggestions??

I don't believe that model has a slip clutch, does it? If not, why not add a round bore slip clutch at the gearbox. This will have the effect of lengthening the driveshaft, plus give you drive line protection better than the shear bolt.

I already have a slip clutch installed. The shear pins kept on breaking when I bought it new and the dealer gave me a clutch.

Oh well, it's never the easy way out, is it? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

JBCat,

I don't know where to buy one, but SpeeCo makes a couple of "PTO extenders" that will add about 4 inches to your PTO shaft. If that's enough added length, I would think this would be a simple and fairly cheap option, assuming you can find somebody to sell you one. Check out their web site at www.speeco.com.

My dealer pressed out the old shaft and ordered a new one. They order the shaft material in a long length and then cut off what you need. Then they will press the new one back in. Not shure of the cost yet.
