I知 getting ready to prepare some new shrub beds and an outdoor storage area. I was planning to use landscape fabric covered with washed rock. All of our other beds are mulched but these areas get a fair amount of water through them during heavy rains and mulch would tend to wash. In addition to the bed I will use the fabric and rock in an area between my shop and fence to store a utility trailer, box blade, and other junk (according to my wife). I知 tired of moving stuff every time I cut grass and this area would provide a spot to hide stuff and not have to worry about moving it when cutting grass. I have a couple of questions:
1. Is there a specific type of landscape fabric that should be used under rock? Is the landscape fabric sold at Lowes/Home Depot sufficient?
2. I知 trying to calculate the amount of rock to have delivered. How thick should I plan to spread the rock? 2入 3入
3. Should I simply place the fabric over existing grass (mostly weeds like the rest of the yard) or should I spray Round Up first?
Thanks as always for the wealth of knowledge present on this site.
