My wife would like to know if a landscape rake will get the leaves to? I've never seen one in operation. Does it pretty much do like a regular hand rake? Or do you have to go behind it with a hand rake??

A landscape rake is equivalent of a garden rake, not a leaf rake. You COULD use it for leaves but it's not going to be your best choice. It's strength is in smoothing dirt, just like a garden rake does /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It works pretty good for gather rotting pears off the ground, too. It does scar the grass a bit though, even with ga wheels. I wouldn't use it on a "lawn" with the tines set that low.

Hmm, ok, the primary concern is leaves, small rocks, small pieces of limbs etc.. Got another implement for this? Or should I tell her to get her lazy butt out there and rake it?
I'd rather not do that right after she let me order the ck30, bh, fel, rotary cutter, and box blade... I'm feeling generous! ha

That's a crazy looking beast! I'll look into it! Thanks!!

Here's another site you can surf while you're waiting for your tractor to show up. They have yard rakes.

Northern Tools

They also have lots of other attachments I wouldn't mind having... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Anyone use a hay rake with live oak leaves, they're small dense buggers that don't move around well.

I just picked up a landscape rake last night. Guy down the road had it for sale. Most likely paid to much. (Wife wanted it). Admittedly it doesn't do much on the hard clay I have for ground. But when I drove it through the thistle area. It took roots and all! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif So I'm ;ooking forward to running it thru the woods to see if we can tidy that area up next.

Leinbach has a nice little attachment called a Pine Straw Rake. It is used for gathering up the pine needles, pine cones and other stuff like that. The little tines on it gather nicely but are gentle on the ground.

The model is PSR and come in 60" and 72" sizes. Up here in No. Idaho they are nice and do very well.

You probably already know this, but the benefit of others who may not, keep in mind that you can change the aggressiveness of the rake by shortening or lenghtening the top link. Also, many landscape rakes will turn all the way around to just have the teeth "graze" over the top of the soil. This is a good way to rake leaves and such without so much aggrssive digging in. I played around with it more last night. Trying to get some more seat time! I figured out the top link deal. It was opposite of what the guy I bought it from told me but considering he hasn't used it in a year. That's OK. He said he only used it once to level his daughters property before seeding grass. I also noticed that if you swing it around and drive it backwards it's even more aggressive than pulling it. Won't do that to much though. Rough on the neck. Made a few passes through the woods though and found a barb wire fence nobody told us about. That should be interesting to clean up. Tetnus shot update time before I do that job! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Found the barb wire in the side lawn area too. The previous owner apparently either wanted to keep something in or out! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif To me, Finding the barb wire out with the rake just made it worth while to own it! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Although the couple of "Told you's" I got from the misses were politely annoying!
