To All:

My driveway project is almost completed. The heavy equipment contractor suggested that I use a rear blade to finish the project (I needed his "support" to swing this attachment by "She Who Must Be Obeyed"/Comptroller). I have a NH TC29DA (29/23+ HP) and a 84" blade/rake seems appropriate for this size tractor and anticipated use. I would desire the opinions of the readership as to their thoughts regarding my needs as well as their thoughts on the Woods medium duty LR107-2 with a flip down grader blade and/or the Land Pride LR2584 with a flip down grader blade. I intend to add end caps to the blades as well as dual guage wheels as well. Other anticipated uses include landscape use and snow removal.

Thank you in advance for your input :D. Jay

Morning Jay.
I say you got it pretty well cover in what your seeking...just beware not to snag onto any roots etc..while useing the rake, also when turning allow enough room for the rake or you might be replacing the mailbox. :(

That sounds like a pretty sweet setup to me. Gauge wheels rule. The only thing that you would be missing would be scarifiers that a box blade usually comes with. Though, I seem to recall that one of those mfgs has an add-on ripper unit to their grader blade. Possible your conditions don't require ripping though. The only thing that sometimes gives me fits, is because my blade rotates vertically, to cut a V ditch for example, the clearance space in the hole for the locking pin translates to an inch or so of wobble at the blade tips that can gouge soft soil at the most inopportune times. I cheat when that happens and use my box blade.

Gauge wheels, at least the OEM ones, are ususally very pricey, but I wouldn't use a rake without them. With them, almost any job becomes easy and your results will look as good as, if not better than, most pros will do.

Thomas, HomeBrew2, and djradz:

Thank you for your input. FYI I have taken out a few fixed structures with "rear swing" in the past  and will probably take out a few more objects with new atttachments in the future . I believe that Land Pride has a scarifier that will link up with their landscape rakes. Jay
