Kioti nx6010 loader backhoe
I知 going to purchase a KIOTI DK-40, 45 hydro with loader and bucket. I have a 16ft heavy-duty landscape trailer rated at 10,000. I can haul my buddy痴 John Deer 3320 with loader and backhoe just fine. The only thing is the backhoe bucket hangs over the tailgate because it a full gate and not opened. My question is will my trailer be ok to haul the Kioti since they are bigger and weight more? Thanks

You need to find out what that new tractor weighs with the way it will be equipped and add that to the trailers empty weight to see if it goes over the 5 tons.
If the weight is OK there still might be a problem with the length being a little short, preventing you from positioning the tractor in the optimal spot to distribute the weight (even if it fits).

If your new tractor and backhoe rig weight more than 10,000 lbs. you will have a problem...

Section 393.130 of the rules and regulations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, an agency of the US Department of Transportation, requires any equipment with a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or more to be secured with a single chain and binder at each corner. In addition, all attachments must be secured, and articulated equipment must be secured at the articulation point. Thus, a backhoe takes six chains.

This would imply that you bucket has to be inside the trailer dimensions...

Paul is right about a chain and binder on each corner but the articulated part talked about in fmcsa regulations is for a loader or tractor that steers by articulation. With that being said it is a good idea to put a chain on the hoe part.

If it weights around 6,800 can i use heavy duty rachet strap's? or do i have to use chains. Im not a big fan of chains, since i try to keep my stuff nice that ,way when i sell it i can get top dollar. Chains mark everything up. The weight is fine but my trailer is just to small. I guess i will have to go with an 18. My wife wont be to happy having 2 trailers at are house. O well. Thanks for the info

No matter what it ways, I think that you'll have a difficult time squeezing it into 16'. The other question is what are you hauling it with?

Yes, you can use ratcheting straps. They also come stamped with WLL's (working load limits).

The single BEST thing you can do is pick up your states "Trucker's Handbook" or any other info at your local state licensing center. That way you get the straight scoop on what your state wants you to do to be legal.
