Always love this look. The naturalized, irregular design is easy to maintain as it doesn't have to be "perfect" to look good.

If your yard is this flat, sure it's a good drainage area, but if your dry creek is on a slope of course your rocks will wash away. That's why a pic of the area would help.

A way to slow down runoff on steeper areas and prevent possible erosion is with the use of small cascades...

There was an artificial "wet creek" here, about 50 feet long. The rocks and gravel were all embedded in concrete, but so well done you could not see the concrete. Every once in a while it was drained and pressure washed.

Its just a gentle slope. No worries of anything washing away
