We just got a couple of 82 and a 60 HP in and the new ones are MUCH nicer that the older ones I have seen at certain chain stores. One of ours even was fitted with a stereo system. The new balanced perkins (this engine factory is no longer part of Perkins and is owned by foton/Lovol) is silky smooth for a 4 cylinder (the older ones had some harmonic vibrations at certain RPMS that would almost shake the cab off). If there is a FOTON dealer near you, they should be able to come close to Northerns price because they include freight and a 7500lb tractor is not cheap to ship. I think FOTON/LOVOL (depending which name they settle on for US market) will become a strong player. They will be at the Farm Progress show in Decatur IL next week, in booth 418 (right by the food court) if anyone is going to be there, take a look and post a review here on TBN. I'd be interested in (honest, not prejudiced, review of the tractor, considering the price. OH and I think the 70 (same as 60) has been selected by the chain store to maintain a price point amist rising prices from the factory. the balance shaft alone added 500 to the wholesale cost, (worth it). There are no EPA issues that I am aware of, only the loss of the use of the Perkins name starting next year.
