Larger front tire/wheel for BX2200

I understand that some of the new Bx series tractors have larger front wheel tire combinations. has anyone with a BX2200 put larger front wheel/tire combos on theirs??

Hmm Well I suppose you could go wider but there is not much room between the tire and the tie rod end. If you increase the diameter you would have to change the gears in the front axle or you would destory the 4 wheel drive. Assuming your is is 4x4. I have never seen a 2x4 BX though. Guess there are some.

I thought about trying it when I went to bar tires on mine. Looked like they would hit the deck. I ordered original sized wheels and tires from the dealer.

the rears can interchange, the fronts do not.

I don't believe that the front tires on the new BX tractors are actually any wider or any larger in diameter than the old BX series front tires. The major change is in the rim diameter - they went from an 8" front rim diameter to a 10" diameter. The main reasoning behind this was probably the larger assortment of tire types available in the 10" diameter. There are for instance no tire manufacturers that make the R4 type tires that now come on the BX24 to fit the 8" diameter rim size. JD 2210/2305 's come with 4 available tire types - and they have a 10" front rim - as does the Massey GC2300 series. My guess is that installing the front rims and correct size tires from a new BX onto an older BX would work - the bolt pattern is the same between the two.

I agree that this has been my finding as well from other posts. The side wall cross section of the 10" R4 is less than the 8"R1 and turf tires, thus leaving the tire OD's all the same. I looked into this back in the Fall, but the R4's (from Kubota) were not yet available. Have not checked back, but they should now be available. Check this link: R4 Tires For BX

Food for thought....if you increase the front tire size you might throw off the gear ratio where the front will want to go slower/faster that the rear......suggest staying with Orig equip sizes
