Kubota L5060GST, J D X758 GT, J D 855D XUV
I presently have a L4200 GST and am looking for a 50-55HP Grand L tractor. I am looking for a little larger Kubota Grand L series tractor. Prefer not equipped with a Regen. system. What was the latest Grand L series produced by Kubota without a Regen. system?

By the way, my L4200 which I purchased new years ago, has been a flawless workhorse for me. :)

The 40 series are the last ones produced w/o final tier 4

Previous generation of L (3200/3800/4600) and Grand L (40 series models) were Tier IV Interim, and did not have DPF/regen. You do not need to seek out a Tier III machine.

There is a ton of confusion about the tiers nowadays, as if the new Tier IV Final standards for 2015 are the one and only ""Tier IV"" and everything else before then was Tier III. But that's not the case. Most new tractors sold from 2011-2014 were Tier IV Interim (there were some stragglers still on Tier II or Tier III, but not many). You'd have to go older than a 2011 to find more Tier III models, but that's not necessary if you just want to avoid DPF/regen -- a Tier IV Interim machine is fine. If you go back long enough to before 2008, stuff was Tier II.

Part of me wonders if sales of used Tier III machines has shot up because many people seem to be overlooking Tier IV Interim. I have even seen dealers oblivious to the differences. And what about selling a Tier IV Interim machine in the future -- will it get an undeserved knock because of the IV in the specs??

I'd say just look under the hood. Pretty obvious iof it has EGR/DPF versus just an injection pump.

This is not correct based on TractorData.com Kubota L2800 tractor engine information and https://www.dieselnet.com/standards/us/nonroad.php

From the links above: "...The Tier 4 emission standard phased-in from 2008 through 2015". L2800 L3400 & L4400 Were Tier III but when kubota added the sticker for "Extra Power" on those models, 2008; they became "Interim Tier IV"

Thanks for all the replies. I wanted to buy "new" but it may be too late for that.

s219,, confusing to say the least. Not your reply, but the Tier designations and DPF/regen system phase in.

5030, I can't just look under the hood while searching dealership inventories over the internet or putting out a bid for something I haven't seen in person.

The Tiers were more about deadlines -- 2008 was Tier III, 2011 was Tier IV Interim, and 2015 was Tier IV Final. The manufacturers got to the different tier deadlines on various schedules, and could exempt certain models all together via credits. There were also horsepower ranges, and the deadlines tended to be set by the higher HP ranges. Some of that is summarized in the chart I attached, and another one is available here:EPA Diesel Emissions Tier Schedule | ForConstructionPros.com

The pace/process/etc wasn't cut and dry -- the only hard dates were the deadlines themselves. For instance, most of the manufactures started rolling out Tier IV Final stuff in 2014, ahead of that deadline. Many got to Tier IV interim before the 2011 deadline for that one. The only real thing you can say (which I alluded to) is that you'd have to roll back to at least 2011 to see Tier III (in higher HP range). There wasn't a Tier III for the lower HP ranges -- they transitioned right into Tier IV Interim.
