I am going to look at a late 70s early 80s era 410 TLB tomorrow. I was curious as to how the backhoe is attached to the main tractor. I had an old allis chalmers I-600 and the backhoe removal process was similar to that of a modern compact TLB. You just removed two bolts from the top and then used the hoe to lift itself out of the bottom hooks.

I am looking to see if a 410 is similar to this in any manner or if there is a way to remove the hoe "in the field" other than driving out boom pins.

I am very mechanically inclined. I'm just trying to plan ahead for transportation purposes. I have a 14k trailer and a 7k trailer. I was thinking of putting the tractor and loader on one and the hoe on the other. Hiring it to be moved is out of the ballpark at the moment, or I may just drive it the 60 miles of very country West Virginia backroads home

Thanks!

I think one can remove 4 pins & disconnect hyd hoses to free BH from tractor. Getting BH attached back to tractor will be the FUN:dance1: part! Tractordata lists 410 weight at 14210#s. If it was me I'd just haul it all together.

I would need about 2500+lbs of tongue weight to haul the 410 all at once on my 14k trailer without overloading the axles. (although I don't always trust tractor data's weight estmates) Which isn't terrible, but my main concern is that I don't believe I have enough deck space to set the hoe down properly while still attached. For reference here is the I-600 on my trailer set up. It didn't have enough room to set the hoe down but it did tow exceptionally well. Snapchat-1739188047.jpeg

I'd remove both buckets FEL and BH buckets first and see if you can fit the boom into the front of the trailer well. This would reduce the weight by maybe 800Lbs?

Taking off the whole BH and hoses will need some plugs/caps for the lines otherwise you wont be able to run the tractor I dont think..

Next best option might be to rent a 16 or 20K trailer for a day, or find a excavating co that trailers stuff and ask them what they would charge to PU and deliver.

That actually was one of my first thoughts. That would gain probably 3ft of deck space on the trailer.

Yes - also on weight distribution- it's really hard to tell from the Pic of your I600 BH bucket is chained tight /resting on the trailer? It looks like the way its chained is the rear wheels will still carry the BH weight going over bumps etc.

Better IMO to secure the BH boom into the trailer well (in the vee before the hitch) without the bucket, chain it down and you should be OK if you take it easy.

I would try this method!
