i want to grow something. nite time temp below 32, day time 30/50. i'm wondering what will grow? guess i will just have to tune up my tools. shop time! build fence, landscape. there's plenty to do i just need to change gears.
1flower.....I think you could grow lettuce varieties and on freezing nights cover with plastic tents or mulch....it can be done, you just have to want it bad enough...Too late to plant candy canes though...they would not be ready for harvest by Christmas...
Root crops, planted under hoops, as brin suggested, can deliver really fine flavors. The cold causes the plant to make more sugars - a natural antifreeze - making for sweeter carrots, beets, etc, than Summer grown ... Yum!
We just got our garlic in, as Newbury suggested. Collected up the leaves from the yard and used them for mulch. Had to rustle some of the neighbor's leaf bags, out along our street, to finish mulching the rows.
Time to plant driveway marks, the ground is firming up finally.
Though I wish I could've gotten that winter wheat sown, it'd nice to be able to think about getting the tractor anywhere I wantta go.
