Over the winter I ran across a deal on a Mathews Lawn Genie model LG72. I couldn't find alot of info on it, but at the price I bought it any way.It finally warmed up and dried up enough so I could play. I had leaves left over from last fall and figured they would be a good test. This mower picks up leaves better than my 48" Agrifab pull behind sweeper ever dreamed of. It chops the leaves so fine the hopper can hold alot so your not dumping all the time. I am going to have to add some front weight to the tractor. When the hopper gets full the tractor doesn't want to turn. As soon as the grass starts growing I will give a report on how it mows.

Bill,

That looks very nice. I personally would be interested in any more pics that you happen to feel like taking and posting of some of the mechanism and flails. Do you think that you can get the cutters for it easily? Sure does a beautiful job on those leaves!!

Nice looking unit. Those leaves are really finely chopped. They should make great mulch, or will break down into compost quickly. Great accessory.

It is a shame you are so far from here. I have a spare front weight laying in the carport in my way.

Mike, I posted some pics of the blades when I first bought it. Do a search for lawn genie. I have been having problems finding blades but I think I have that solved. I found a really good parts man who took the time to do some searching in some old parts books. I will find out tomorrow if we found the right ones. I do wish it was a 5' insted of 6'.

Thanks Bill,

I do not know how I missed you original posts--I am a bit of an addict to the site. Except that the Attachments Forum gets so many posts that often in one day a new thread moves to the second page. Anyway, thanks for the pics and hope the blades will work for you.

I take it there are 2 paddles and then 2 rows of blades or are there 4 rows?

In your search for replacement flails, have you checked out Flailmaster.com?

The people there are really helpful, the prices fair, the shipping fair, and the service excellent.

I haven't used them in years, because I got extras when I purchased.

Mike there are 2 rows of blades then a row of paddles then 2 rows of blades and another row of paddles.
I did call flailmaster and they were verry helpful and even sent some blades for free to see if they would match up because they didn't have any info on the Lawn Genie. Unfortunatly they wouldn't work. If the ones I have ordered are the right one I am going to pass the info on to Flailmaster to help someone else out.

Did you add an extra zero. Most of the ones I have seen on ebay went for arround $1200. I gave a whole lot less. The seller got it in a package deal and just wnted to get rid of it. It was Jan. so not many people were thinking about mowing.
