Lawn mower leaking oil

I have got a Husqvarna lawn mower with a 27 horsepower kohler engine that is leaking oil from the valve cover. I put a new o ring in it and put permatek sealant on it but it still leaks. Does anybody have any suggestions on what i can do to stop it from leaking

How many hours on the engine? How often do you change oil and what do you use?

Assume a V twin Command. Did any bolts loosen up? I just trashed out a 20 hp single Kohler Courage on a 46" Husqvarna that leaked there plus the head, plus a big crack in the crankcase, plus the crankcase cover gasket. Bolts would not stay tight. Leaked oil all over the place. Mine had about 300 hrs on it. Mower now has a nice shiny new 20 hp BS V twin!

If you are fighting blow by caused by bad rings or valve guides, you can't seal it off as far as I know.

Remove and clean the crankcase breather valve and breather filter.

A lawn mower engine works on the same principal as the one in your car -- but on a much reduced scale. An oil leak in your mower, like one in your car, might mean that oil is oozing through barriers that should contain it. Sometimes, though, oil stains on the floor come from operator carelessness. In either case, quick diagnosis and treatment save wear and tear on a little engine that runs hot and fast.
