I am about to start preparing my fescue lawn for overseeding and wanted to see if anybody can offer some good advise on a better way to go about it. I am overseeding a fescue lawn with more fescue. My plan is: this weekend, fill in all the places that have settled and put a nondiscriminatory herbicide on all the spots where bermuda grass has prospered better than the fescue. Next weekend, rototill all the areas that have not grown well or that I killed with the grass and add some peat moss, roll it with a roller, put down 100# of seed, mow existing grass from 3" to 1.5", aerate it with a plug aerator, put 200# of 33% ammonium nitrate fertilizer on about 1.5 acres, then water it twice a day for 30 minutes each time for about a week, then once a day for two weeks. I will then put down a 20-5-10 fertilizer for the winter. Any advice is appreciated.
