Lawn Trac runs w/choke on, dies with choke off

i am having same kind of problem with my john deere x320, would love pictures and directions on how to remove the carburator bowl. I am not exactly sure, i left gas in the tank over the winter, I know i should not have, it surges now when i run it, have put new gas filter on, new gas with sea foam, put seafoam directly into carb, still same problem, only not quite as bad
