Finally after the long winter and mud season I decided to give my "newly" acquired LB1714 a workout knowing it needed some servicing and just wanted to order all parts at once.
Well, I guess I have to order more than I thought I would need. I'll be calling Jon DePratt for parts once I get some opinions on to the oil leak. Tough to say exactly where its coming from.
Well, it blows oil from left side of engine(as in sitting in seat) up by #1 cylinder head area. I cleaned off several times and can see it running down slowly but its hard to say if its head gasket or front cover with the engine running at full rev and fan blowing, although it looks like head is whats leaking.
Question is: Is there a oil gallery up front between head and block that can cause this leak?
Is is a bad leak if you can see it spray and drip. It is a LB 1714 Daedong engine.
All help appreciated. Harry

Jon, thanks for the reply. I pulled the covers off to get a better look. Ran without fan belt on for a quick look see. Appears to be coming from between cylinder head and block at left front corner behind generator which I removed also. I claened off several times and did a quick engine run and can see it coming from that area between head and block OR front cover to block. I wouldn't think the front cover gasket would leak this much on top unless it was broken/cracked which it doesn't appear to be. I'm just wondering if there is a oil gallery in the LF section of the head gasket that could cause this leak. It is in the area of the head where the cam would be located. Attached is a pic but I know the clarity is poor. Just have to decide head gasket or front cover or both.
Thanks for the help, Harry

Try this adjusted pic, it's a little clearer to view. John

I took another pic in daylight as the first was fuzzy. I am pointing to area where oil appears to come from.
Thanks, Harry
