I have a Mahindra 4500 2wheel drive, it run a older handy-600 BIG RED bush hog. First thing, one of my blades broke in half under my bush hog. It has two blades. I need to replace both blades. Can someone tell me tell me if this HANDY BIG RED 600 is a BUSH HOG or a ROTTERY CUTTER? I think it the 6-foot model. What side blades it uses? How long the blade need to be? Where can I buy a replacement blade?

Another issue is at the back of my Mahindra where the turning pin(whatever it is called) that turn the bush hog, is leaking fluid. This is the pin where the bush hog turning shaft slides on, that turn the bush hog. I have a seal leak appear to be coming around this pin. As I turn the bush hog shaft, there is a small string leak coming from the bottom side. If so how to you repair/replace the seal around that pin. Can I replace the seal myself. I am not a tractor MECH. but since I had this tractor I have replace the fuel tank, which involve taking off the sterling wheel, and have replaced both. I have taken off the stump jumper( a **** of a job)and replaced. I have taken off the front wheel sterling cylinder and replaced. This bush hog pin that turn the bush hog has five to six bolts on a plate, that appear to hole the seal in place. Can you pull out the seal after taken loose these bolts, or is the seal dipper inside? Can I pull/knock out the seal?

bush hog and rotary cutter are terms describing the same machine...

Hopefully nothing was jarred and you just need a pto seal which the tractor will need to be drained to replace... not that big of a deal watch a few youtube videos... make sure you put back the correct type and amount of oil. 2wds took 80-90w gear oil when they were first built if im thinking right but can be changed to MTUF.. check over the manual it will let you know what to do. also id pull the shaft off the tractor and make sure it will slide back and forth ok... a jar that broke a blade could easily twist a pto shaft.... checking to be sure your slip clutch is adjusted correctly or shear pin is an actual shear pin would be a smart idea also

Thanks for the reply, I have taken out the tractor PTO rod from the back of my tractor, It was not hard, just remove six bolts from the PTO base plate, and I used a Flat head screwdriver to just privy out the PTO rod. Replaced the rubber seal, only to find out, I did not need to pull out the whole PTO rod to replace the rubber seal. because the rubber seal is at the front/mounted inside the PTO face plate. Now can someone offer me any help on putting it back in the PTO hole. I balanced the PTO rod and just pushed it in by hand, and it appear not to go all the way in. My PTO ROD HAS two medal bearing, the first inside bearing will not got in, only half way in the tractor PTO hole. I assume the PTO rod goes inside the tractor transmission, the rod appear to be hitting on the edge of the transmission intake PTO rod hole. I pulled the rod out without having to engage/disengage anything. IS there something I need to do to reinsert the PTO rod back in the transmission. The rod has short droves on the end, and a hole in the middle end of the rod, and I think, I have to line up and slide in the rod into the transmission hole. Do I need to beat this rod back in? I do not want to beat it in if it is not lined up correctly. Right now the rod appear to be hitting on the side of the transmission hole, because the fist inter metal bearing will only go in the tractor PTO hole halfway. How can I confirm the PTO rod is lined up in the transmission slide before I try knocking it in with a wood block? IS this 80 90W gear oil as you stated or is that H. fluid that goes back in?

You may not have to drain all the fluid to change out the seal. Park the tractor on a slope with the rear upwards. That lets the fluid move to the front, and you can work on the PTO area without the big mess.
