Tractor
Kubota B3030
Hello all,

I just took possession of my B3030 last week and so far I really like the tractor. I only have 3 hrs. on it so far because I noticed the left bucket cylinder was leaking fluid. I torked down a little on the flange where the cylinder arm retracts in and out and was able to slow the leak down but not stop it completely. When I initially discovered the leak, it would continue to leak even when the tractor was shut off but after tightening the flange the leak stops when the tractor is not running. As soon as i start the tractor I can see a drip on the cylinder.

I contacted Messick's (where I purchased the tractor) and the service department told me they would schedule someone to fix the cylinder. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience with a new tractor or is this an unusual situation. I was told i could still use the tractor as long as I kept the fluid level in the safe zone. I'll be picking up some SUDT at a local Kubota dealership but I don't like the idea of having this expensive fluid leaking out on the ground. I'm hoping Messick's can take care of this ASAP.

I would appreciate any info on this type of problem.

thanks,
kirklowj:(

Little leaks on something new isn't a big deal, sounds like the dealer will take care of it. Remember there are a whole lot of drips before you get to the add oil level. And even a few drips can cause a large spot on the garage floor.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Good Luck,
Rob

Thanks for your reply RobJ.

I didn't think this was a real big deal but certainly something that needs to be replaced. Even though I was successful in slowing down the leak by tightening the flange on the cylinder, I think the packing in the cylinder case is not properly sealing.

I purchased some SUDT this afternoon and I plan on adding some fluid when I get home. Since I didn't get a manual with my tractor (one is being sent to me by the dealership) I am a little confused when I read some of the threads regarding adding Hydro fluid. Someone mentioned taking out the dipstick and open the fill valve. Where is the fill valve located? For the front axle I was just going to take out the dipstick and fill the fluid from the dipstick port.

Is there something I'm missing?

thanks,

The Hydro dipstick is yellow/orangess behind tractor , right in top center.

really long as you see some fuild when you pull out stick you're good.
othewise the fill cap in right in front of the stick, just pull cap off and fill.
i usually put my fulid in old 16oz gator aid bottle and pour in. space is tight, unless you find funnel to fit,

even after 200 hrs, never had to add to front axle, but i think you're right on adding at the port where dipstick is on front axle.

I had a small leak on my L3000DT when it was under 25 hours old. The dealer sent a service tech. to the house who fixed it while I was at work. No problems over the next 375 hours.

I am sure your problem can be fixed qiuckly as well.

Thanks everyone for your reply's. I just made arrangements with the dealer (Messick's) and they are sending a technician to my house this Friday 8/17 to repair the cylinder by rebuilding the internal packing. I've dealt with hydrolics building high pressure reactor systems so I'm sure this will solve the problem. The good news is that I was able to use the tractor until a technician could be dispatched to my house and all I had to do was add a little SUDT.

So far, I really like this tractor (B3030) and I'm hoping this incident is just a small inconvienience and not a prelude to other problems. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

thanks again for your input,
kirklowj:)

I had a leak in mine and it turned out to be a hairline crack in the flange on the cylinder. I think it would have fixed the leak with just a new flange but they had already rebuilt the cylinder when the crack was spotted. Over two hundred dollars.

How do you remove the hydraulic cylinder on a Kubota tractor bucket loader? Mine is leaking a lot and its difficult to transport to a repair shop so thought it would be easier to remove cylinder and take that in for repair.

Unhook the hoses, remove the pins-That's all.

Have a bucket and plenty of rags handy when you disconnect the hoses AND when you compress the cylinder down for transport. Don't ask how I know this.
