I have a bush hog 2400 QT loader on my MF 265. The front left cylinder is leaking fluid about 4 drops per minute. Is this a do-it-yourself kind of repair or a "take it to the shop" kind ot fix? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

4 drops per minute seems more like a seep than a leak. i'd be tempted to leave it alone and just top off the tank now and then.

Where is the cylinder leaking??
I assume around the rod!!??
Rod side is usually only pressurized when you do "power down"....so you might have a "small leak at low pressure".....How is that leak when you do power down??
Check the entire rod for damages (bent?), scratches and dents, before replacing any seals.....

How is that leak when you let a heavy load sit hanging in the bucket??
Do bucket drift down any, due to that leak??

I've got a 2400QT with a leaking bucket cylinder and need to know how to get the end off the cylinder. Looks like a piece of wire through a hole in the side of the cylinder, does this wire have to be removed to get the end off and if so how do you remove it?

THANKS!!!!!!!

May have a bigger problem, turning the end piece isn't feeding the locking ring out. Do appreciate the reply though.

Saddlesore,

You have two choices........line up and blow out small hole in gland, fit a short piece of wire/round piece of punch or dowel pin, this will help push out the remainder of the lock wire.......length of pin is critical.......sometimes this works cuz the lock wire could be in several pieces.....

the second choice is to carefully mill out (on milling machine) or grind out about 3/4" of opening at the lock wire to pry out a section of wire to grab with a good new pair of vise grips (one with little serrated teeth on jaws), then use hammer to whack the vise grips while someone else turns the gland carefully......

Weld up the spot on cyl barrel where milled/ground......

Hope this helps......

Be carefull cuz if it don't come out you're in deep doo doo.......

Oh Yea, don't worry about wrecking the lock wire, they're cheap.......just don't ruin the gland or barrel
