My 1500s fuel filter/tap assembly leaks slightly from around the tap cock and the bleeder at the fuel in elbow.it could also be leaking at the O ring on the fuel bowl.i was thinking of chucking the whole lot and replacing it with a CAV unit or similar. has anyone done something like this? i can buy replacement filters for the CAV unit anywhere here in Australia and cheaply.i am looking at ordering some other service items from the states so if i get a resounding'NO' i will also order some filters and O rings Etc.

A CAV system should work just fine. I personally dont like them just because I always seem to have trouble getting the gaskets between the filter, bowl, and head aligned & sealing correctly. They do work well though.

I think for customers in the US it would be cheaper & easier just to use the factory replacement Yanmar filter assembly but I understand your position.

Yeah Thanks Aaron, i can buy them in Australia for about $6 each AUD. they are about 5.5 micron(296) which i think would be finer than the OEM style of filter? you may be getting an email from me in regards to some air filter elements as this is the only thing i cannot source here.
