leaking gas - LX 279

I have a John Deere LX 279, with a Kawasaki 17 HP liquid cooled engine, I had to replace the fuel pump about two weeks ago, and now there is fuel coming from overflow tube on top of carb. body on top, dripping down onto the muffler...what would cause that to happen and what would fix the problem?

welcome to TBN!
i would think a good place to start would be the needle valve in the carb. remove the bowl from the bottom of the carb
and carefully manipulate the float up and down to see if it is stopping fuel flow.
