My suggestion is, after lightening your wallet for whatever repair you do, I suggest changing the hydraulic fluid more often. Your corrosion was / is caused by contaminated fluid and to a lesser extent you not working the tractor hard enough to drive the moisture out of the fluid. You get entrained moisture in the fluid, you get corrosion. Simple as that.

Old thread but same problem. Figured I'd post for any other future searchers...

I needed to change the seals on both cylinders on the driver side. $30 each seal kit from Messick (had to call because they listed 4 kits - broken down by serial number of the loader). Bucket cylinder came apart no problem. Seals falling apart. Boom cylinder was another story. Same issue as the OP - threads were corroded. Heat, pipe wrench and break bar. We only got a few threads out before it broke. It never got any easier to turn so we're sure the threads were corroded and galling as we turned. But at that point... nothing else we could think to try.

Looks like new cylinders on ebay are $500 so that's what I'm getting.

Also as with the OP - the seals were just falling apart, so the one inside the gland nut... I hope I have it in the correct direction.

I've never done this job before... but it was really easy (assuming the gland nut unscrews). I called around for a while looking for a local shop and asking for recommendations. The name I kept getting when out of business 2 months ago. At the end of the day, this was pretty simple job and I'm not afraid to do it again. With the issue I assume a shop would have destryed it also or just refused to take it apart. At least doing it myself I saw the problem first hand.
