As a follow up from our Loose Bevel Gear Bolts post, want to pose a new thread concerning front axle seals that we also had to replace.
This is the seal that separates the oil in the differential from the oil in the axle case. If the seal is worn, it appears that over time the oil will flow from the axle case into the differential, thereby lowering the proper level in the axle case. Does anyone have experience as to how often these seals need to be replaced?
We bought two new ones and thankfully they were less than $7 a piece. The dealer had number of them in stock which would lead one to maybe conclude that is a commonly replaced item.
Would like to hear what others have experienced in having to check/replace those and difficulty in maintaining proper oil levels.
Thanks!
