L4600 HST 4X4..... I have been using my Kubota for quite a bit of earth moving since I found water going under my culvert instead of through it. With a bum knee and a bent shovel I was loath to get too physical. Anyway, I got hold of two 50 lb sacks of Sodium Bentonite and threw them into the FEL bucket . The culvert is 20 ft long and was bedded into some three loads of road gravel when it was re-installed by me in 2009. 100% of the water was going through under the culvert so I had to excavate the approach to it so I could get a clear seal made. Used my L4600 in the full curl position to push and pull the buildup of rocks and mud out of the bottom. Then I put some clean 2 inch rock into the cleaned out bottom using my FEL. After spreading this out I put the Bentonite in on top of the rock feathering out into the entrance of the culvert . I also stuffed the Bentonite in under the end of the culvert. Within 30 minutes the water was flowing through the culvert and was looking good. The full curl on the Kubota was a great help. Also...I had just had the 50 hour service completed and paid special attention to the filter with the magnetic ring on it. I was clean and there were no metal filings on it.
