I am considering running a air line down to my pond, about 700 feet so that I can aerate it, some people have used a middle buster plow to trench a 6-8 inch ditch to lay the air line in and said a 55hp tractor did it with no problem, ( per pondboss.com forum ) I am wondering if my 22hp 226d will be able to also preform this task. For the most part it is a field of grass except for the last 100 feet I will have to move around some surface rock which is probaly shelf rock. what do you think?

Think I would go for a single bottom plow narrow as I could find and make two passes.

It will work for the grass part. I don't know about the rock? Are you are talking rocky soil? (prob ok) If you mean solid rock? I don't think you can pull a buster through solid rock! You have enough tractor if that is your question. Put alot of weight on the front of your tractor so she don't roll over backwards if you get hung up!

You can probably do it with your boxblade with 1 scarrifier installed, but have you considered a windmill?

I put all the water lines down on my new homesite with a 22hp 2 wheel drive. 12" deep. Had no problem at all.

Worth looking at Norm's suggestion. We researched 6 or 7 years ago, to keep a duck pond open during the winter months.

I have indeed considered a windmill, my problem is that the wind isnt always blowing here and the pond is atleast 300 feet into the woods and I would have to put the mill out in the open. When I said rock it is big rock slabs but I think I can go around these and since only a few inches deep is all I need, I was just wondering about the hp of my tractor would it do the job. I have been comunicating with another very resourceful forums over at pondboss.com if you have questions about your pond then they have the answers, just like this place /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
