I'm riding high in the saddle again after the blades came off the brush cutter of my PT-180. It was very simple for a local shop to reattach the hub with the blades on it.
I have worked it like a dog clearing parts of my 3 1/2 acres of land. After cutting bunches of saplings and wild growth it took a toll on the cutter which developed a couple of cracks around where the hub sits and contributed to the blade coming off.
Having said that I must say it is the best money value I have ever spent on a riding mower. No garden tractor could ever do what the lowly 18HP PT-180 can do (I tore up a garden tractor along with two other riding mowers) when it comes to mowing grass and clearing land.
Anyone who has read any of my posts can tell right off the bat I know nothing about mechanics and maintaining machines and that is the ONE thing that almost made me not buy a Power Trac. Now that the warranty is over and after a couple of fairly minor problems with my machine, I have found that it is no more a hassle having it serviced than a Sears or any other tractor.
Today I even turned the wheels around which makes it sooo much better cutting on one of the hills where there was always a feeling that it might turn over. I plan on being a bit more gentle than I have in the past with it, but it has proved its durability above and beyond the call of duty.
I am happy with it, though if I had to do it all over again I may have waited a little longer to save for the PT-422. With my fear of not being able to get it fixed and the warranty over I am now enjoying it. The PT-180 is ideal for anyone with three or four acres of land and wishes to have a machine you don't have to baby. I recommend anyone to spend the extra for a ROPS.
