Welcome to TBN! I am sure you will find a lot of advice here.

So will you be farming this 75 acres if your lease is approved? What will you be farming? Crops, hay, raising livestock?

Is EU European Union? What is ME?

I am curious as to what compels a student, inexperienced at farming, to take a 50 year lease on 75 acres of government land. Many small experienced farmers have difficulty making a living; they almost have to have all of their land and equipment paid for, to begin with. I too loved farm life as a young man, but I got my experience as a farm hand with my room and board paid for; no other liabilities. Good luck.

While I had grown up around farms and farming [and even a cattle ranch out west] I had never done any of it myself. I decided to grow something simple -- Christmas trees -- and started planting, then mowing, then shearing, then spraying. My first lesson was that being a farmer means being a chemist and a mechanic. Stuff breaks and help can be a long way off. Then I was abruptly introduced to pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers, and I don't know what-all.

Each crop or livestock will require its own set of skills and knowledge plus machinery so I would be cautious of diversifying too much at the start. And I would advise against such a large amount of land at the start. Try to get some time [internship] on a going concern to learn what they do and how they do it. I fear you are overreaching and will find yourself overwhelmed from the start.

Liking or disliking something is probably not enough to embark on this. Do you have a mentor, parents or mate that has experience in agriculture? Experienced Farmers can get wiped out by factors beyond their control, never mind someone that doesn't know the business.

The OP is young, and likely is in (or considering) ******, so much of what we assume may not actually apply to his situation.
